Back in September 2013, Delta Airlines announced that it has started using Microsoft Surface 2 tablets in the cockpit and Nokia Lumia 820 but now, the Airlines will be upgrading to the Nokia’s flagship, Lumia 1520 as POS (point of sales) solution.
At its Convergence conference, Delta showed off its custom application running on Lumia phones. Right now, in flight food orders are taken using Lumia 820 phones but looks like they are too small for the attendants.
Seat upgrades will also be sold in flight as the bigger 1520 offers extra real estate giving the customers a better view of their seats too. The airlines adopted MS’ software 18 months and has never looked back.
